Chana Sundal
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Boiled Chana
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
- ½ tsp Urad Dal
- 4-5 Curry Leaves
- 2-3 Green Chilies
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 2 tbsp Fresh grated coconut
Instructions
- Soak the chana for around 7 to 8 hours before boiling or steaming.
- Add a pinch of salt while steaming.
- Add oil to a pan, add mustard seeds.
- When they start spluttering, add urad dal. Roast the dal.
- Add curry leaves. Add green chilies and 1 dry red chili for nice flavor.
- Add asafoetida to the tadka. Mix well.
- Add chopped cilantro to this which adds nice fresh flavor to the dish
- Add boiled chana to the pan. Chana is already cooked so we don’t have to cook this again.
- Mix well. Add salt as per taste. Cover and cook it for 2-3 minutes so it absorbs all the flavor.
- Add fresh coconut and cilantro and cook for another 2- 3 minutes so chana are not overcooked. Top it off with lemon juice. serve hot.
