Chana Sundal

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Boiled Chana
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • ½ tsp Urad Dal
  • 4-5 Curry Leaves
  • 2-3 Green Chilies
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp Fresh grated coconut

Instructions

  • Soak the chana for around 7 to 8 hours before boiling or steaming.
  • Add a pinch of salt while steaming.
  • Add oil to a pan, add mustard seeds.
  • When they start spluttering, add urad dal. Roast the dal.
  • Add curry leaves. Add green chilies and 1 dry red chili for nice flavor.
  • Add asafoetida to the tadka. Mix well.
  • Add chopped cilantro to this which adds nice fresh flavor to the dish
  • Add boiled chana to the pan. Chana is already cooked so we don’t have to cook this again.
  • Mix well. Add salt as per taste. Cover and cook it for 2-3 minutes so it absorbs all the flavor.
  • Add fresh coconut and cilantro and cook for another 2- 3 minutes so chana are not overcooked. Top it off with lemon juice. serve hot.
