Fried idli
A tasty twist to regular idlis. Time saving, healthy and tasty dish. Perfect as a snack for kids lunch box.
Ingredients
- 4-6 idilis
- ½ cup chopped bell pepper
- 2-3 green chilies
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 6-10 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- As per taste salt
Instructions
- Chop the idlis into pieces. Do not cut into very fine pieces.
- In a pan add oil and once hot add mustard seeds.
- Once splutter add the curry leaves and slit green chilies. Mix for a while
- Now add the chopped bell pepper, Stir it well.
- Add idli pieces, salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder. Stir everything well.
- Cover the pan and steam it for 2-3 minutes. Once done add chopped cilantro, stir well and serve hot.
Notes
you can add any type of vegetables you like. As idlis are precooked, check that the vegetables added are cooked well before adding the idlis
In case of very tangy idli, little sugar can also be added.
Cold idlis work best for fried as steamed hot idlis will become very soft and will break in oil.
